Mr A of London:
Mr A says: "Although after 2 months I only achieved partial benefit to my leg and foot, the improvement in my arm has been very good. Before, my arm lay across my chest due to spasticity - it now rests at my side. I have greater ease walking up and down stairs due to better balance. I can now pull 3.5 kg in the gym instead of 1kg." This reduction in spasticity has happened after only 4 weeks of treatment. After a further four weeks Mr A is now able to lift his arm as in the lower image. A huge difference in comparison to the first photo where spasticity held the arm across the chest.
Mrs H of Crawley:
"My stroke happened 9 years ago and my left arm was completely paralysed. I also lost movement in my leg and foot. I receive no other therapy. After 5 weeks, I can lift my hand to my mouth. I have gained a lot of confidence as a result of getting much more movement. This therapy should be in the hospitals. The results have been tremendous."
The picture on the left shows Mrs H's estimation of the limit of her movement before IMF - her left arm was completely without function.

"I use FES (Functional Electrical Stimulation) for my foot but my arm has gone from nothing to this in 9 months. It`s great. I have also started to regain movement in my fingers. All Rehab centres need one or more of these machines."

Here you can see IMF Therapy being used by a young man who suffered a lesion in the upper spine. The recovery will be slow and gradual hence high motivation being of paramount importance.
